Oscar Murillo creates large-scale pieces on canvas using a variety of media including paint thread and even dirt and studio debris. His pieces convey movement and chaos. Although his pieces may look spontaneous because they are expressive however Murillo meticulously plans each part of his piece. Murillo's pieces are inherently tied to the enviroment that he works in.He described it as a way to bring all his interests into one. Being resourceful by using what he finds in a working enviroment is something that was instilled in him by his upbringing in a village in Columbia but also by his tutor from art college.his tutor described it as the type of resourcefulness that was a necessity in post war Britain.
