Joan Miro was a spanish artist born in Barcelona in 1893 and is considered to be a surrealist.Early on his career he painted predominantly still lifes and landscapes with strong caltan influences. He worked with a variety of media such as painting, printmaking and sculpting along, he also dabbled in testiles.Miro had a distaste for the art that the bourgeoise idealised so created art using semi abstract forms along with geometric shapes and biomorphic forms. Miro often worked with only a few colours but they were usually bold and contrasted with the simple forms. All though his pieces look simple Miro meticulously planned their composition to create a 'assasination of painting' as an attack on traditional painting. I'm inspired by Miros use of simplistic forms and the use of bold colours to create these striking imagery.
