EXPRESSIONISM - Theory and Context

Expressionist arts influence on my practice has been a significant one. Vibrant colours are a staple of my practice just as with many expressionist pieces, however as my paintings have developed it has become an even more significant part of my practice. As my work has developed, I have also been inspired to use more painterly marks to create more fluid and less austere compositions hinting at the presence of thins such as buildings and figures rather than illustrating them. I feel that incorporating these elements into my works has elevated them above my earlier pieces.
