EXHIBITED PIECES

As I have been focusing on experimenting with printmaking for this module, I initially wasn’t sure what the concept the prints would be based around. So initially started making prints from imagery I had used in previous work such as imaginary deities. This type of imagery is prevalent throughout my practice and has been for years so it only seemed a natural starting point. As I went on, I also experimented with pattern and texture. Over time this developed into me looking for inspiration is my everyday surroundings as well as places I had visited to inspire my prints by focusing on elements in the environments that I could distort or abstract. Over time I ended up creating these strange deity-like creatures inspired by these elements marrying both types of experimentation. For example, while I was in Berlin, I visited a gallery with lots of traditional statues so I used them as anatomical inspiration for some of the prints whereas others I made their forms out of actual structures such as churches or drink stands. Some of my main artistic influences have been Le Cobusier and Leonora Carrington
